Dear Members and Friends,
We would like to take this opportunity to remind you about the Arena Tournament happening at the Club this weekend. There will be hot food and drink served in the Winter Clubhouse (please bring cash with you for payments as there will be no credit/debit card facility) so please feel free to come and spectate even if you are not playing. After the matches have been played on Saturday we will be meeting in The Cowper Arms Pub on Station Road where we have booked a section of the pub for Club members and friends. It is approximately ten minutes walk or two minutes drive from the Club.
We hope to see you all there.
4th February 2009
Dear Members and Friends
Due to our last arena tournament’s success and popular demand we will be running another one on the 14th & 15th of March. The goal level will be 0 – 4 although we anticipate that there will be enough entries to run the tournament in two tiers: 0 – 2 and 2 to 4. You are welcome to enter either a full team or individually and we will place you in a team.
There will be food and drinks served in the Winter Clubhouse so please feel free to bring along friends and family to spectate. On the Saturday evening we will be meeting in the Club’s local pub The Cowper Arms again as this proved to be very popular last time.
Please contact Jenny firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to enter.
23rd January 2009
Dear Members and Friends
We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended and played in the arena tournament at the Club last weekend. There was a great atmosphere throughout the weekend and the visiting teams were made to feel very welcome which was great. The whole thing was helped along by glorious weather and Brian’s fantastic homemade food and mulled wine. We hope to be hosting another arena tournament in March so watch this space for dates!

9th December 2008
Due to popular demand we have changed the level of the tournament to 0 – 4 Goals. We have also decided that the event is a great excuse for a mid-winter Club gathering so even if you are not playing in the tournament it would be great to see you there. There will be home-made soup and mulled wine served during the day and on the Saturday night we will be meeting in the Club’s very nice local pub, The Cowper Arms for a few more drinks to help banish those post-Christmas blues.

The winter season at Herts Polo Club will shortly get underway and we want to take this opportunity to furnish you with the latest Club News:
The Winter Team
Despite being in Argentina Nacho will remain very much involved in all aspects of the Club, should you wish to contact him he is available by email and shortly by telephone. We will email you his new telephone number as soon as possible.
As Head Coach Martin will be responsible for coaching the Royal Veterinary College polo team. He will also be available to give “Introduction to Polo” lessons for any friends or family that you wish to encourage to take up the game. Please telephone the Polo Office to book.

Claudio, Dean and Martin will also worth together to organise the monthly members tournaments that will begin in November.
Dean will be responsible for coaching Queenswood and Haileybury Schools Polo Teams in addition to corporate days. He is also available to teach lessons. Please telephone the Polo Office to book.
Fernando is responsible for running the livery yard and managing the care of horses including booking the shoeing and veterinary appointments.
Booking Chukkas and Lessons
Chukkas will begin on Saturday 18th October 2008 and will be played on Wednesdays, we are considering midday but the exact timing is still to be confirmed. Chukkas will be played at 10.00am on Saturdays and Sundays. To book chukkas please contact the Polo Office before 3.00pm on the preceding Friday. You can email, text or telephone the Polo Office. If you need to cancel chukkas that you have booked please call Fernando with a minimum of two hours notice in order to avoid being charged.
As usual the whole team at Herts Polo will be working hard throughout the winter to ensure that the playing, livery and spectator facilities remain second to none. By the time that the summer season begins we will have completed the fifth polo pitch which will from now on be referred to as ground number three. This pitch will be fully boarded and stone free. We are in the process of removing the stones by verti-draining the field three ways which will loosen the stones and push them to the surface allowing them to be removed efficiently.
Along with the wooden horse a new (working!) electronic scoreboard clock will be installed in time for the summer season, this facility will be available for sponsorship, please contact Caroline Maddocks for further information.
In order to meet increased demand for the next year we are in the process of installing six additional stables, these will have a dedicated tack and feed-room. This will bring our total number of stables to 52. Additional paddocks are also under development and will be completed before Christmas.
There will be an onsite polo shop based next to the indoor school selling a full range of polo equipment in addition to the club merchandise. Prior to the opening of the polo shop Club merchandise is available to try on and purchase at the Polo Office during office hours. We were delighted with the positive feedback that we received at the End of Season Party to the new range of Club clothing, the superior quality was clearly appreciated as was the reasonable cost!
New Polo Office
Caroline, Tracey and Jenny will be relocating to the new Polo Office in the next couple of weeks. You can find us on the ground floor of the same building and you are welcome to pop in, collect your Green Books, buy some Club merchandise or just say hello!
